Originally released in 2002, The Definitive Collection encompasses 21 tracks that highlight Wonder's evolution from a prodigious young talent to a musical icon. The album opens with "Fingertips – Pt. 2," a live recording from 1963 that showcases Wonder's early genius. It progresses through a series of timeless hits, including "Uptight (Everything’s Alright)," "For Once in My Life," "My Cherie Amour," "Superstition," "Higher Ground," "Sir Duke," "I Just Called to Say I Love You," and "Part-Time Lover."
This vinyl edition has been meticulously remastered to enhance the listening experience. Housed in a gatefold sleeve, the packaging features Braille embossing, rare photographs from the Motown archives, detailed track annotations, and an essay by Scott Regen, a Detroit DJ who became a Motown staff writer and producer. Regen, who penned the liner notes for Wonder's first Greatest Hits album in 1968, provides unique insights into the artist's legacy.
