Engelbert Humperdinck Announces US Tour to Celebrate 89th Birthday

Veteran Crooner Embarks on New Tour, Reflecting on a Lifetime of Music

British pop legend Engelbert Humperdinck is marking his 89th birthday with a fresh series of live performances across the United States, proving that age is no barrier to passion and performance.

Born Arnold George Dorsey on 2 May 1936 in Madras, British India, Humperdinck rose to international fame in the late 1960s with hits like "Release Me" and "The Last Waltz." His smooth vocals and romantic ballads have earned him a dedicated fanbase and over 140 million records sold worldwide. Now, as he approaches his ninth decade, the singer is embarking on a new tour, bringing his timeless music to audiences old and new.

The US leg of the tour kicks off on 17 May in Flagstaff, Arizona, and includes stops in Fort McDowell, Beverly Hills, Riverside, and a two-night engagement at Las Vegas’ Orleans Resort. These performances are part of a broader schedule that will see Humperdinck performing over 60 shows this year across Europe, the UK, Southeast Asia, and the United States.

Reflecting on his milestone birthday and enduring career, Humperdinck shared, "So happy to be celebrating another stepping stone in life. The road, the music, and the places I get to see keep me young at heart. And the audiences, some who have been with me since the very beginning and some who have just discovered my music, are both fuel and tonic to me."

Despite previously announcing a farewell tour titled "The Last Waltz," Humperdinck found himself drawn back to the stage. After spending several months at home, he realised that performing was an integral part of his life. "I’ve spent January, February, March, and part of April at home, and I was climbing the wall," he admitted. "So I got on the phone with my manager and said, 'This is not going to work out. I've got to get back to work.'"

Humperdinck also credits karaoke for keeping his music alive over the years. "Some of my songs are as fresh today as they were when I recorded them over 50 years ago, and of course, I’m very big with karaoke," he noted. "Most of my songs are on karaoke because people love to sing them, and of course, that’s what kept it alive all these many years, and I’m very happy about that."

In addition to his live performances, Humperdinck continues to engage with fans through his online presence. He maintains a YouTube channel with over 499,000 subscribers and shares personal video messages every Tuesday in his "Tuesday Museday" series, connecting with audiences worldwide.

As he celebrates his 89th birthday, Engelbert Humperdinck remains a testament to the enduring power of music and the human spirit. His upcoming tour not only honours a remarkable career but also reaffirms his commitment to bringing joy and romance to fans around the globe.
