Chicago Celebrates 55 Years with Star-Studded 'Live at 55' Concert Film

Chicago Marks Milestone Anniversary with 'Live at 55' Concert Film Featuring Special Guests

In a remarkable celebration of their 55th anniversary, the legendary rock band Chicago is set to release "Live at 55," a concert film that captures their enduring musical legacy. Scheduled for release on 22 November 2024, this film commemorates over half a century since the band's groundbreaking debut album, "Chicago Transit Authority," which achieved double-platinum status.

Recorded over two nights at Ovation Hall in the Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, New Jersey, "Live at 55" showcases Chicago performing to a live audience of 10,000 fans. The event was produced by the award-winning Barry Summers as part of the acclaimed Decades Rock Live concert series. The film features performances of songs from their debut album, including some tracks that have never been performed live before, as well as "unplugged" versions of classic hits.

Adding to the concert's allure, Chicago is joined by a roster of special guests, including Robin Thicke, Chris Daughtry, and guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. These collaborations bring fresh interpretations to Chicago's timeless music, offering fans a unique experience that blends the band's signature sound with diverse artistic influences.

Reflecting on the project, Chicago's founding member Lee Loughnane stated, "This concert film is a unique approach to any of our previous live performances. We very rarely play with guest artists, much less seven of them. It was very interesting to work with each guest and experience their interpretations of our music."

The current lineup of Chicago includes original members Robert Lamm (keyboards and vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet and vocals), and James Pankow (trombone). They are joined by Ray Herrmann on woodwinds, Walfredo Reyes Jr. on drums, Neil Donell on vocals, Ramon "Ray" Yslas on percussion, Tony Obrohta on guitar, Loren Gold on keyboards and vocals, and Eric Baines on bass and vocals.

"Live at 55" will be available in various formats, including DVD, 2CD, 4K UHD, and a 3LP vinyl set, catering to both collectors and new listeners. The film not only celebrates Chicago's rich history but also highlights their continued relevance in the music industry.
